undefinedKaleigh Rose Thacker

Associate Attorney

Born in Houston, Texas and raised on the Space Coast of Florida, in Titusville. Kaleigh graduated magna cum laude from the University of Central Florida and obtained her law degree from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

After law school, Kaleigh moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked at a small general practice law firm and gained experience in many areas of law. Working for a general practice provides that clients with a variety of legal issues come through the office and makes for a well-rounded experience. She worked on family law issues such as divorce, child support, child custody, alimony, and pre-nuptial agreements. Further, she was also a Court-appointed Guardian ad Litem advocating for children. Kaleigh found her way back to Tennessee and worked at a general practice law firm in Davidson County. While in Nashville, she worked on additional family law issues such as grandparent visitation, adoption, and mediation.

Participating in the Alternative Spring Break program at Memphis Law was Kaleigh’s entrance to family law. Memphis Law’s Alternative Spring Break program seeks to help low income individuals who need legal representation. She helped clients who had reached an agreement regarding asset division complete the paperwork required for uncontested divorce. She interned with Legal Aid of Arkansas where family law, domestic violence, and divorce were issues that many of her clients were experiencing. She was a judicial extern for United States Magistrate Judge Diane K. Vescovo. Additionally, she worked as a law clerk for the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee.

Kaleigh has always been a “helper” and most enjoys the human component to practicing law, that of building relationships with clients. She has completed victim’s advocacy training and volunteered during Sexual Assault Awareness month and Domestic Violence Awareness month to support survivors impacted by these issues. It is her privilege to guide clients through the legal process in what is often a difficult and trying time.

In her down time, Kaleigh enjoys yoga, traveling, volunteering, hiking, kayaking, brewery tours, exploring local restaurants, and attending concerts.
